                                                                    A Message from Our Parish Priest - Fr Nnam

 

The church is a sanctuary. ​Historically, the church has served as a place of physical, emotional and spiritual refuge. In season and out of season, in the smite of the sun, the coldest time of winter, in the lashing of the rainstorm, the church remains a shelter, welcoming everyone – especially the most vulnerable.

The people of our time continue to search for a deeper meaning in life. They look forward to that home, offering solitude and silent space, to enable inner connection to oneself. And to go beyond oneself, to connect to others, in openness, remaining true to oneself.

​

Our parish, like any other catholic church and other faith communities, aims at becoming all things to all people in our missionary and pastoral relevance to the people our time.

 

Isn't it time to allow people to tell us how to be church in our time? Just like the day of Pentecost, we need to allow the Spirit to move men and women of all tribes and nations to speak in their own tongues, and to be open to listen that we might understand them beyond what we already know.

We pray for each other, that God will open our minds and heart to see one humanity we share. To remain true to our callings, especially to look after each other as our brethren’s keeper. And to care for the beautiful creation delicately and conscientiously entrusted to our care, beyond the politics of times and circumstances. May our Eucharistic and other Sacramental celebrations continue to renew and heal every part of the Mystical Body of Christ that needs healing and restoration.

Come Holy Spirit and fill the hearts of your children, and kindle in us the fire of your love. Come, oh generous Spirit and renew the face of the earth through your beloved bride, the Pilgrim Church. Amen.
